Hessonite Garnet, also known as Cinnamon Stone, is a variety of Grossular Garnet colored by trace amounts of iron. Grossular Garnet is typically green but can occur in every color except blue. It's named after the Greek word "hesson" meaning "inferior" because of its lower hardness and density than most other Garnet varieties. Hessonite Garnet is typically found in Sri Lanka, India, Brazil, and Tanzania as well as other places across the globe.
